Seasonal travellers enjoy flights to Kutaisi, Mestia

More domestic flights will offer tourists faster and more comfortable ways to travel from one part of Georgia to another during the warmer months.

A direct flight from Natakhtari, a village near capital Tbilisi to Kutaisi, Georgia’s second largest city in the country’s west, will launch on March 10.

There will be two flights a week – every Monday and Thursday. Flights will be carried out by local airlines Service Air with a 17-seater plane.

One-way ticket price will be:

• For adults – 50 GEL (about $ 20/€ 18 );
• For minors – 35 GEL (about $ 14/€ 13);
• For infants – free of charge.

Meanwhile flights from Kutaisi to Mestia, one of Georgia’s highest inhabited mountainous regions in the country’s west will also be launched. The flights will take place every Monday and Friday.

One-way ticket price will be:

• For adults – 40 GEL (about $ 16/€ 15);
• For minors – 28 GEL (about $ 11/ € 11);
• For infants – free of charge.

Currently Service Air operates Natakhtari-Mestia direct flights four times a week: every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

One-way ticket price is:

• For adults – 65 GEL (about $ 26/€ 24);
• For minors – 45 GEL (about $ 18/ € 17);
• For infants – free of charge.

In 2015 about 4,500 passengers benefited from this flight service, which reduced the 7-8 hour drive to Mestia to a comfortable 45 minutes.

This may be your first trekking in life, we will make sure you feel comfortable and interesting, but you must have possibility to stand 6-8 hours a day trips. Also important is your well-being on elevation changes (while crossing the passes).

This tour does not include living in tents and eating on a field kitchen. Description

In Svaneti now there remain more than 50 medieval churches. The earliest of them are dated to the 9^th century AD. Many churches still have unique interior frescos and external paintings. The technology of building is also unique. The churches were built of tuff and then mortared. There are many mysteries still hidden in the churches of Svaneti. The peculiarity of this region of Georgia is that Svaneti always had been a closed region, in which incalculable Georgian wealth was preserved from attacks of enemies: golden and silver icons, medieval crosses, encrusted with jewels, ancient Georgian bibles. All this is preserved in Svaneti up till now, but often hidden from tourists as a force of old Svan habit – to hide the wealth from strangers. Therefore, all the churches of Svaneti are closed, and the keys are kept by the clan that once built the church. Indeed, many churches are ancestral and have tribal cemeteries around them. During this tour we will lift the veil of secrecy. The guests will be able to visit all the important churches of Svaneti, see the old icons, talk to priests and monks. It’s important that the guests should honor and respect Svan Orthodox traditions. Thus women and men participating in the tour are to wear clothes complying with canons of the church, but also comfortable for hiking, as some churches and monasteries were built in the mountains, "closer to God." The program also includes participation in the Sunday liturgy, where you can listen to the Svan hymns.

Description.

In small remote villages people have kept the old way of life, which consists of daily homework. This day is dedicated to exploring the musical culture of Svan. On horseback you will go to one of the oldest villages in Svaneti - Lahuzhdi. Where you will try to play the Svan instruments chunir and changi. You will learn Svan songs, which date back to the 12th century. Can learn the world-famous Svan perkhuli.

Day 3

A day in the Svan daily life. You will be able to participate in all home affairs. Chop wood and heat the oven. See how homemade Svan lavash is baked, cook suluguni. Have an opportunity to feed domestic animals (cows, pigs, chickens). And after a busy work you will participate in a family lunch. Acquaintance with everyday life is inseparably linked with the acquaintance with the craft. You will visit a school of crafts in Latali, take part in making Svan hats, tapestry, watch the process of manufacturing cloisonne enamel, which is an ancient Georgian art. You will also visit the museum of a famous Georgian mountain climber and photographer Guram Tikanadze.

Day 4

On this day you will be able to visit different museums of Svaneti. House-Museum of Michal Khergiani – a famous Svan mountain climber. Traditional Svan housing estate of the Margiani family in old Lanchvali area. Open-air museum - Ushguli, where you can visit the ethnographic museum and the medieval church.

Please note: the duration and cost of the tour is calculated without taking into account the Tbilisi-Svaneti and Tbilisi. For you, we can choose any convenient and cost-efficient way.
